What a great way to begin the outdoor season.  Both varsity and JV remained undefeated in this home meet against some solid competition.  The varsity beat the two time defending 3A champions and the JV beat the second place team by 100 points (2nd and 3rd combined wouldnÕt have even beaten the JV).  On the day we had 8 event improvements from 2005, with the throws and hurdles looking particularly impressive.  The throwers swept the JV and varsity throws for the second year and nearly every hurdler and hurdle event improved from 2005.  A number of people has some very impressive individual improvement from last year (Minch +20Õ in the discus, Kenney and Koeppel + 3Õ in the shot, Sidwell 14 seconds better in the 3000, Anna Olson running two 800Õs below her PR, Moen, Reighard, and Skay all 1 second or better improvements in the 100 hurdles.  We had 15 additions to the standards of excellence list (1 more than 2005): Whiting (LJ), Anciaux (discus), Skay, Moen, Whiting, Rydze (100hurdles), Carter, Sabers, Krei (200), Sabers, Rydze, Harris (400 hurdles), Skay (100), Wiegert (400), Tutson (shot).  Two JV records fell on the day, the 400h record belongs to Mercedes Harris and the 4x2 of Robison, Putnam, Fredericks, Gerard are the new record holders in that event.  Two people entered the top ten list: Kelly Krei is #10 in the 200m, and Laura Minchk improves her #6 place by several inches.  A great meet, but you should expect such performances out of yourselves in order to be ready for the tough competition later in the season.
