City High School- "The School That Leads"

**NEW- History of Girls Track & Field Coaches at City High

City High School is a school of 1600 students located in Iowa City, Iowa. City High has a long tradition of academic, music, and athletic excellence. Since 1989, City High had an average of 12 national merit scholars each year; had dozens of All-State musicians annually; and has produced an amazing 48 state championships in 8 different sports. City High has also distinguished itself as being the only school in Iowa history to win both the boys and girls track titles in the same year......FOUR TIMES!

City High is a member of the very competitive Mississippi Valley Conference in Eastern Iowa. At the 1999, 2001 & 2002 Girls State Track Meet, MVC teams took the top three places at the state meet. Fourteen teams from Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque and Cedar Falls/Waterloo make up the MVC. Along with City High, teams from Iowa City West, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Cedar Rapids Washington, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Linn Mar, Cedar Rapids Xavier, Cedar Falls, Waterloo West, Waterloo East, Dubuque Wahlert, Dubuque Senior, and Dubuque Hempstead make up the conference.

Expectations for the 2010 track & field season are very high. The Little Hawks capped the 2009 season as the State Runner-up losing by a single point to a very talented Waukee High School. That fact is emphasized by the return of 21 athletes this year with varsity and State Meet experience:
