Overall, the 2001 indoor season was a tremendous success. At this early time in the season, we were able to add 13 people to the standards of excellence list in all contested indoor events with the exception of the long jump. The list to the left shows the top three performances in each of the events. Of the 50 names to left nearly half (24) were people that did not compete on the varsity at City High last season. This perhaps more than anything shows the potential that this years team has. It also shows that the future of City High Track & Field is in good hands. The outdoor season begins on April 3rd, with the Little Hawk Invitational. Beginning with this meet, emphasis will be on qualifying events for the Drake Relays (April 26-28). The Relays have added 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, and 4 x 800 relay to this years list of events. City High looks to qualify in all of these in addition to the existing events. May will see our focus shift to conference, district and state meets. With the outstanding work done so far, these meets look to be exciting indeed. |
