City
breaks three meet records, wins invite

The City High girls' track team broke three meet records and
set a new school record of 206 points in winning the Cedar
Rapids Xavier Invitational Thursday.
Regina
won a pair of events and scored 57 points to tie Cedar Rapids
Prairie for third place.
City's
Emily Triplett won the 100-meter hurdles in a close race
with Regina's Carly DuCharme and set a meet record of 14.68
seconds. Triplett also led off the first-place shuttle hurdle
relay, which set a meet record of 1:04.64.
City's
4x200 relay also won in a meet-record time of 1:46.37.
Other
winners for the Little Hawks were Sarah Anciaux in the discus
and shot put, Ruhee Arora in the 3,000, Kelsey Mims in the
400, Nelle Trefz in the 800, Elise Mozena in the 200 and
Molly Sabers in the 400 hurdles.
City
also won the distance medley, sprint medley, 4x100 and 4x400
relays.
"We
had a number of kids that aren't regular varsity point-scorers
that came in and scored a lot of points," City coach Terry
Coleman said.
DuCharme
won the long jump for the Regals, and Evelyn Ross won the
1,500 in a personal-best time of 5:20.68.
"Maybe
the legs were a little tired from Tuesday night," Regina
coach Chad Swope said. "We didn't compete as well as I thought
we would have."

WEST HIGH: The Women of Troy broke three meet records,
won six events and scored 372 points to take second place
at Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
Cedar
Falls won the meet with 396 points.
"It
was a great meet for us," West coach Mike Parker said. "We
were trying to be very point productive."
West's
Alison Dirks won the high jump with a meet-record leap of
5-41/2 and remained undefeated on the season.
The
Women of Troy won the 4x800 in a meet-record 9:39.87, and
the 4x400 won in a meet-record 4:02.74. West's shuttle hurdle
relay won in a season-best 1:06.07.
Sarah
Wickman won the 800 for West, and Janet Dobyns won the 1,500.
