In 2010, the experience of seniors Ashley Wilkinson, Tara Mills, Brittany Nelson, Emily Fagan, Jill Stephenson, Jessica Yagla, Melanie Holman, Stephani Brooks and Mallory Hynes led City High to a District title and the third place finish at State. Even with the losses to graduation, the strong underclassmen along with some dedicated seniors and newcomers will make City High an exciting team to watch. City High returns members of every state scoring relay, as well as several key individual point scorers.
The sprints will be lead by junior Nicole Kuddes and Claire Crew who were members of the 5th place 4x200m relay team and the 2nd place 4x100m relay respectively. Hurdles look be a strong event again this year with all of the 8-place State finishing shuttle hurdle relay returning. Lead by seniors Emily Sotelo, also a qualifier in the 400m hurdles, and Samantha Kunc, all of the hurdle events will be highly competitive. Middle distance events have been very strong for City High the past several years and this year will be no exception. The distance events will be anchored by senior Rebecca Rethwisch (4th in the 3000 and 6th in the 1500 at Sate) and Junior Meg Richardson. Field events will be anchored by Senior Virginia Johnson (4th place high jump) and double qualifiers in the shot and discus, senior Kayla Hyche and sophomore Aliyah Gustafson.
