We are establishing these standards for three reasons. First, we want to reward all athletes who achieve excellence, even if they aren't on varsity. Second, we want everyone to have a goal. You may never wm a state championship or run at state, but you can shoot for these goals. Third, we want City Girls Track & Field to be about excellence, year after year. If we reach a point where all varsity runners and many JV reach these standards, we will be among the best in the state every year.

These standards were determined by looking at State Qualifying standards over the last few years and by discussion among the coaches. In most cases, these standards are roughly equivalent to what it would take to qualify for the State Meet.
